We'll show you how to burn ISO image files to DVD on Windows 8 as a disk image. You do not need an additional program for this, but can use the internal burning program.
Burn an ISO image using Windows 8
- Right-click on the ISO file and select the "Select standard program" option under "Open".
- Check the box at "Use this app for all .iso files" and select "Windows Explorer".
- Right click on the ISO file and select the "Burn Disk Image" option.
- The internal "Windows burner for disk images" now opens.
- In the "CD / DVD burner" area is the drive with which you burn and in which the blank DVD is located.
- You can check "Check disk after burning". A function test of the burned DVD will then tell you whether the disk image has been burned correctly to the disk.
- If the integrity of the ISO file is particularly important (because, for example, firmware updates are included), the checkmark should be set.
- The writing process is started with the "Burn" button.
There are many ISO downloads available on CHIP, for example the latest Ubuntu version Saucy Salamander 13.10 (64 bit or 32 bit). Also read how to burn ISOs on your Mac.
