Is movie-blog.org legal?
The website movie-blog.org is a file sharing portal where you can find download links to current films and TV series. But is it legal? How you can recognize serious and dubious download portals, read below.
Therefore the use of movie-blog.org is not legal
File sharing is not in itself prohibited. You can make photos, videos or files available online and offer them to others to download. The only requirement: you are the author of this data or have the right to reproduce the data. You can find out what you can (still) share and copy in another article on chip.
- The opposite is the case with movie-blog.org. Most of the site provides copyrighted content for free. According to § 15 UrhG, only the author himself has the exclusive right to reproduce and distribute.
- The same applies to the download. If you as a user download a file, in this case a film, from movie-blog.org, you will be punished. With common sense, it can be seen that the author of the files offered for current movies or TV series has hardly given his consent to put them on the Internet free of charge. By downloading, you generate a copy, which is not permitted under copyright law.
- In the past, only offering copyrighted files was punished. Since a change in the law in 2008, it has been enough to download a copyrighted file. Since, as mentioned in point two, you make a copy of the download, you are therefore punishable.
Legal alternatives to movie-blog.org
You don't legally get current films, preferably in HD quality, for free. Alternatively, more and more websites are now offering flat rates for small money in order to be able to watch unlimited films and series. Rather use these if you want to be on the safe side and don't want to find mail from a warning lawyer in the mailbox one day.
- Watchever offers a 30-day trial access before you can buy a flat rate for 8.99 euros per month. With Watchever you can watch series and films on your computer or on the go on your smartphone.
- With Lovefilm you also get a 30-day trial access to try the offer. In contrast to Watchever, you can also borrow DVDs or Blu-rays by post here. After the 30 days, you will have access to series and films for as little as EUR 4.99.
Another option is the media libraries of the various TV channels. RTL, ZDF and VOX are just three of numerous channels that make their programs available on online portals. If, despite everything, you do not want to spend any money, you have to do without the latest blockbusters, but you can watch Netzkino and MyVideo for free and legally film and series classics as well as lesser known titles.
