iTunes: 4 practical tricks
With iTunes you can manage your videos, music and apps, among other things. But Apple software can do even more. We will show you 4 cool tricks that you are guaranteed not to have known in iTunes.
iTunes Trick 1: New functions thanks to AppleScripts
AppleScripts is a small program that is directly integrated in MacOS. For this, developers can develop smaller tools that add useful functions to iTunes.
- With the script "Quick Convert" you can, for example, import music CDs in different audio formats or convert individual tracks.
- "Now Where Was!?" Is particularly practical. With this script, iTunes remembers where you stopped listening to music. So you can continue listening at exactly the same point later.
- Around 500 of these little helpers can be found free of charge on the Dougscripts website.
iTunes trick 2: get old design back
With iTunes 11, Apple has completely changed the design of the music player. If you don't like the new layout, you can at least get the familiar sidebar back from the old design with just a few clicks.
- To do this, start iTunes on your PC and press the key combination [Ctrl] + [S].
- The familiar sidebar reappears. If you want to hide the sidebar again later, simply use the key combination again.
iTunes Trick 3: Effectively influence music playback
With normal playlists, you can already limit playback in iTunes to your favorite songs. You have even more control over the upcoming songs with the "Up next" feature.
- This allows you to put any song in the playlist without stopping the current playback. The song will then automatically play next without becoming part of your playlist.
- To use the feature, right-click on a song or album and select the "Next Track" list option.
iTunes Trick 4: Top up camera credit
If you have an iTunes credit card, you don't have to type in the long code yourself. Instead, you can use your webcam and scan the code.
- To do this, start iTunes and go to the iTunes Store.
- Then sign in with your Apple ID and password by clicking "Sign In" in the upper right. If you are already logged in, you will find your Apple ID there. In this case, click on the Apple ID.
- Select "Redeem" from the drop-down menu and choose "Camera".
- Now hold the code in front of your webcam. iTunes will automatically read your credit card and credit the amount to your account.
