iTunes: Set up an account without a credit card
You don't have a credit card but want to create an iTunes account? We will explain how to get your own Apple ID - without having to enter your credit card.
So you can register with iTunes without a credit card
Typically, you will need to provide a credit card information for the Apple ID, otherwise you will not be able to complete the registration. You still use a trick to log in as an iTunes user:
- In iTunes, click "iTunes Store" (left column). If you don't have the program yet, you can download it here.
- Then select the "App Store" button at the top of the bar. Click on a free app. If you don't find any right away, there is a large selection in the CHIP app area.
- Try to download the app in iTunes using the "Free app" button. A window opens in which you click on "Create Apple ID".
- Check that your desired country is shown at the bottom right. Clicking on the flag opens a menu in which you can change the country.
- Then click on "Next" and confirm that you have read the terms and conditions and accept them.
- Now enter the account data of your future Apple ID in the fields. If you don't want to receive any advertising from Apple, remove the two ticks below. Continue with "Next".
- Under "Payment method", mark the option "None" (see picture). However, you have to provide your name, your street and telephone number for the resulting invoices due to paid content. Now click on "Create Apple ID".
- You will find a confirmation email from Apple in your email inbox. A link is given in this. Click on it and the registration is successfully completed.
Alternative: Get a free credit card for iTunes
Credit cards don't have to be expensive. Many banks, such as comDirect, also offer free credit cards for checking accounts. If you don't want to open a new account, you can get a Visa credit card with the Barclaycard even without changing your account - of course also free of charge. Or you can easily create a virtual credit card.
