iTunes: Deactivate old computer
You can deactivate your computer in iTunes. There are two options for deactivation, which we will show you below.
iTunes: Deactivate an old Mac or PC
If you sell, give away, send in for repair, or reinstall your Mac, you should disable iTunes on your Mac. The same applies to the use of iTunes on a PC. Here, too, you should, for example, deactivate before installing Windows:
- First open iTunes.
- From the "Store" menu bar, select "Disable this computer". Under Windows you may have to make the menu bar visible beforehand.
- Enter your Apple ID in the next window and click "Deactivate".
Deactivate all computers
If you have already passed on your device, the above option is no longer possible. iTunes therefore offers you the option to deactivate all your devices at once once a year. After the deactivation has been carried out, you can reactivate your existing devices as normal.
- Open iTunes and go to the "iTunes Store".
- Click on your Apple ID and select "Account".
- Select "Disable all" (Note: This option only appears if you have more than two computers activated).
- Alternatively, you can also log in with your Apple ID using this iTunes link (iTunes must be installed on your device).
