iTunes: Find and delete duplicate songs - Here's how
If you want to bring some order to your iTunes library, you can find and delete duplicate songs. We'll show you how it's done.
iTunes for Windows: Find and delete duplicate songs
- Open iTunes and simultaneously press the "Ctrl" + "B" keys on your keyboard so that the menu bar appears at the top.
- There, click on the "Display" item and select the "Show duplicate objects" option.
- You will then receive a list of all songs with the same name. At the top you can filter again using the "All" and "Same album" options.
- Caution: Not every duplicate title should also be deleted. Not infrequently, two different tracks simply have the same name or come from the same artist but from different albums. You should only delete a file if the album and artist coincide.
iTunes for Mac: Find and remove duplicate songs
You can also use the function on Mac, but this is called a little differently.
- Start iTunes and click on "View" in the menu bar at the top.
- Depending on the version of iTunes, you will find the option "Show exact duplicates" or "Show duplicate objects".
- You can now proceed as described above.
This practical tip shows you how to create multiple media libraries in iTunes.
