Create an audiobook in iTunes - how it works
To be able to use an audiobook in iTunes conveniently, you must ensure that iTunes recognizes it as such. How to create an iTunes audiobook from your imported CDs and MP3s.
Method 1: Import audiobook from CD to iTunes
- Before importing the CD, you should group the tracks. To do this, mark all the tracks on the CD. Then click under the menu item "Advanced ..." (Windows) or under the "Options" icon at the top right (Mac) on "Group CD tracks".
- Right-click on the CD in the sidebar. Select "Import CD" and also click "OK" in the import settings.
- Right-click on the freshly imported track. Select "Information" Under the "Options" tab, switch the media type to "Audiobook". Also check the "Remember playback position" and "Skip at random playback" checkbox.

Method 2: Create audiobook from MP3 file in Windows
If you have already imported your audiobook, you can bring it into the correct form under Windows with the MP3 to iPod Audio Book Converter:
- Drag and drop the individual chapters into the program and arrange them in the correct order
- Add tags to describe your audiobook in more detail
- Click on "Start conversion".
Method 3: Create audiobook from MP3 file on Mac
On Mac, convert your audio files with the free Audiobook Binder app:
- Drag and drop the corresponding audiobook into the open program window.
- Complete the information on the author and title.
- Click "Create Audiobook".
- Set the destination folder and click "OK". "AudioBookBinder" notifies you via the message center when the audiobook has been converted.
