iTunes: Error 13014 on startup - you can do that
If iTunes reports an unknown error number 13014, there is a problem starting the software or syncing devices. We'll show you how to fix it.
Error 13014: iTunes does not start
If iTunes reports "An unknown error has occurred (13014)" when starting, there is usually an error in the iTunes library. The problem can be solved relatively easily:
- Press the [Windows] and [E] keys simultaneously so that the Explorer opens.
- Navigate here to the path "C: \ Users \ YourName \ Music \ iTunes".
- Delete the files "iTunes Library Extras.itdb", "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" and "iTunes Library.itl" here.
- If you restart iTunes, the three files will be recreated. iTunes should now run again.
iTunes: Error 13014 occurs when syncing
Error 13014 is always related to your music library. In addition to the problem above, the error also occurs when syncing with iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
- Update: If you use a slightly older version of iTunes, this can lead to complications. Therefore, download the latest iTunes update. An iOS update can also help.
- Library: If you have not saved your music in the iTunes music folder above, this can also cause problems. If possible, move all songs to the path "C: \ Users \ yourname \ Music \ iTunes \ iTunes Media".
- Software: In rare cases, security software can block the connection between iTunes and iOS device. To do this, briefly switch off any installed anti-virus programs and firewall.
