iTunes: Fix error 39 - so it'll work
If error 39 occurs in iTunes, there is a problem with the synchronization between the software and the iOS device. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
Fix error 39 by clearing the photo cache
The error usually occurs due to the synchronization of your images. The following instructions only apply to Windows, you will find instructions for Mac OS in the next paragraph.
- Restart your computer completely and disconnect your iOS device from the computer.
- Now press the [Windows] and [E] keys simultaneously so that the Explorer opens.
- Navigate here to the path "C: \ Users \ YourName \ Pictures".
- Delete the "iPod Photo Cache" folder and folders with similar names.
- Then start iTunes if the synchronization works again.
iTunes: Fix Error 39 on Mac OS
- Exit iTunes and open your user folder in Finder.
- You will now find your "Photos Media Library" in the "Pictures" folder.
- Click on it with the right mouse button and select the option "Show package contents".
- Drag the folders "iPod Photo Cache", "Apple TV Photo Cache" and similar into the trash.
- Restart iTunes and try syncing the device again.
