iTunes: Error 4005 - you can do that
If iTunes receives error 4005, you are currently unable to update or restore your iPhone. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
iTunes: Fix error 4005 on iPhone
The problem usually occurs with the following message: "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4005)."
- Restart: Switch both your computer and your iPhone completely off and on again. Smaller errors in the buffer are deleted.
- Update: To exclude an outdated software version, you should also carry out an iTunes update.
- USB: Connect your iPhone to your computer using a different USB port. Another cable can also work wonders.
- Reset: If none of this helps, connect your iPhone to another computer. You can then restore the device there.
