iTunes hangs - what to do?
ITunes getting stuck again and again can have different causes. We'll show you how to get the problem under control.
iTunes keeps hanging up - it can help
- Exit: If iTunes cannot be closed correctly, press the [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [Del] keys simultaneously. You can then quit and restart iTunes in Task Manager.
- Update: Start iTunes, you will see a question mark in the top left menu bar. There you will find the "Check for updates" option. Install the available updates.
- Firewall: If iTunes hangs when you open the iTunes Store or connect to the Internet in some other way, the problem may be with the firewall. In this practical tip, we will show you how to temporarily deactivate the firewall.

iPhone, iPad, iPod: iTunes hangs when connected
- iPhone: iTunes only crashes when you connect your iOS device to the computer, disconnect and restart the device. To do this, switch the iPhone, iPad or iPod completely off and on again.
- Cable: Check the cable as well. If possible, use a different cable for the connection.
- PC: If none of this helps, try connecting your iPhone to iTunes on another PC. Otherwise you should also reinstall the program here.
