iTunes cannot eject iPod - troubleshooting
If you cannot eject your iPod in iTunes, we will explain to you in this practical tip what causes this.
iTunes: Eject iPod is not possible
In contrast to conventional MP3 players, the iPod works best in the iTunes environment. If the program prevents you from ejecting your iPod, we will show you various problem solutions in the following steps.
- Check if your iPod is still synced or if it's still actively connected to iTunes. If so, wait for the synchronization to finish.
- If you have activated your iPod as a volume or removable disk, you must eject it manually outside of iTunes in the system:
- If you're working on Mac OS, navigate to Finder. Select the iPod there and choose "File"> "Deactivate your iPod".
- Under Windows you will find the iPod when you go to the "work place". Then right-click on your iDevice and select "Eject".
- If that doesn't work, make sure you haven't opened files in your iTunes library through another program. Virus scanners and other music players like to access them. If so, close the other software and then eject your iPod.
