If you have created a music collection in the iTunes library and want to export it to another PC or drive, there is a simple method. We explain step by step how to solve the problem.
Export iTunes library to another disk
To use your iTunes library on a hard drive or other computer, you have to move the folder with your music.
- First, locate the iTunes Media folder. You can find this on Mac and MacBook using the Spotlight search, on Windows using the search function. Alternatively, just start iTunes: By clicking on "Settings"> "Advanced" you will see the path of the iTunes Media folder. (see image)
- Drag the folder completely onto an external data medium - for example a USB stick or a hard drive.
- After copying, connect the disk to the other computer on which "iTunes" must be installed. Do not start the program yet.
- Now you have to copy the "iTunes Media" folder into the correct directory and replace the existing folder with it. On Windows and Mac systems, the default location is under the user directory in the "Music" folder.
- The next time you start iTunes, you should see all of your songs.
