iTunes library: Back up music and movies
You can back up your music to your iTunes library in two steps. A quick guide to this can be found in this article.
Step 1: Fold the iTunes library together
- Open the "Settings" and click on "Advanced".
- Check the "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library" option.
- Now select "File" -> "Media library" -> "Organize media library".
- Place a checkmark next to "merge files" (see picture).
Step 2: Copy the iTunes folder
The next step is to back up the iTunes folder on your hard drive, USB stick or external hard drive:
- First, find the iTunes folder. By default, this is located under User \ username \ Music.
- If you don't find the folder there, you can find out the file path in iTunes under "Settings" -> "Advanced".
- Then copy the folder with a right click. "Copy" and then paste it on a USB stick or external hard drive by right-clicking "Paste".
