iTunes: Change backup location
You can change the location of the backup made by iTunes relatively quickly. In this practical tip we will show you how to do this.
iTunes backup - how to change location
- You can move the folder with your backups to the desired location as usual. You can find it under the following file path: "C: \ Users \ [YOUR NAME] \ AppData \ Roaming \ Apple Computer \ MobileSync \ Backup". It is important that you have activated the display of hidden files and folders.
- In order for iTunes to save its backups at the selected location in the future, you have to change the file path in the command line. Make sure to adapt the command to the file path you have chosen.
- To do this, open the start menu and enter "cmd" in the search mask. In the new window (see picture) first enter "cd c: \". Now the actual command follows: "mklink / j" C: \ Users \ [YOUR NAME] \ AppData \ Roaming \ Apple Computer \ MobileSync \ Backup "" d: \ itunes \ backup ".
