Undo jailbreak - how does it work?
If you want to undo the jailbreak on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you can do it in two ways. We'll show you what they are.
iPhone: Undo jailbreak via iTunes
Use this guide to restore your Apple mobile device through iTunes and remove the jailbreak. If you fail at one of the points, test the instructions in the second paragraph.
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to the computer with a USB cable and start iTunes.
- Click on your iPhone in the top right corner and select the "Restore" option in the middle.
- Confirm your decision and accept the license terms. The current iOS is then downloaded and installed.
- Once the latest iOS has been downloaded and installed, you can restore your device from iTunes from a previous backup. Alternatively, set it up as a new device. You can find out exactly how this is done here.
Restore iPhone or iPad in maintenance mode
Restoring in maintenance mode resets the operating system settings and reloads the entire iOS. In the case of serious system errors, this method is recommended instead of the above.
- Connect your Apple mobile device to your computer with a USB cable and start iTunes.
- Now hold down the home button and the on / off switch simultaneously for 10 seconds.
- After the time has elapsed, release the on / off switch and keep the home button pressed for another 10 seconds.
- ITunes then indicates that a device was detected in maintenance mode. You can now click on the device via iTunes in the top right corner and click the "Restore" button in the middle.
- Confirm your decision and accept the license terms. The current iOS is then downloaded and installed.
- You can then set up the device from scratch or restore it from a backup (see above).
