You can uninstall Java from your Mac with just a few clicks. You can find out which steps are necessary in this practical tip.
Step 1: Remove Java application from Mac
- Open the "Finder" and click on "Applications" on the left.
- Enter "JavaAppletPlugin.plugin" in the search field above.
- Wait for the file of the same name to be found and right-click on the entry.
- In the context menu, select the "Move to trash" option to delete Java from your system.
- Start the "Finder" again and enter "Terminal" at the top to start the tool of the same name.
- Enter the command "sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/*.jdk" and press [Enter]. For security, you must confirm this process.
- Then delete further program links. Use the command "sudo rm -rf /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/*.jdk" and confirm with [Enter].
- To remove any Internet plugins from Java, you must use the command "sudo rm -rf / Library / Internet \ Plug-Ins / JavaAppletPlugin.plugina".
- Then complete the uninstallation with the command "sudo rm -rf /Library/PreferencePanes/JavaControlPanel.prefpane". After that, Java was successfully removed from your Mac.
