Java: Which version do I have installed?
In this practical tip we will show you two ways to find out which Java version you have installed.
Check the Java version in the browser
- Open the Java website and click on the "Do I already have Java?" Link under the "Free Java download" button.
- In order for your version to be checked, you must allow Java access. To do this, confirm the following query or click on "Execute this time" at the top of the address bar and then on "Execute".
- After about five seconds you will receive information about the installed version and whether you should update to a newer version.
Read out the installed Java version under Windows
- Open the Control Panel, enter "Java Control Panel" in the search at the top right and select the search result.
- After a short wait, a small window opens. Switch to the "General" tab above and click the "Info" button.
- Here you can also read out the current version.
