Disable JavaScript in Firefox - how it works
Here we show you how to turn off JavaScript in the Firefox browser and thereby increase security.
Disable JavaScript in the options
First of all: Some sites such as Youtube, Google and other websites require JavaScript. You cannot use this with deactivated JavaScript.
- Navigate to the menu button at the top left (from Firefox 29 on top right). There you select the "Settings" option.
- Click on "Contents" in the tab. In Firefox version 23 you will find a checkbox called "Activate JavaScript". Remove the hook. From version 23 follow the next steps.
- Click away the settings window. Enter "about: config" in the Firefox address bar. Confirm the warning with "I'll be careful, I promise!"
- Look for the entry "javascript.enabled". The "value" should be set to "True". To deactivate JavaScript, right-click on the setting name "javascript.enabled". In the context menu click on "Toggle". The value now changes to "False".
Testing was carried out under Firefox version 24. An add-on such as NoScript is more recommendable than completely deactivating JavaScript.
