JBL Flip vs. Charge - differences of the boxes at a glance
The Bluetooth speakers JBL Flip and JBL Charge are currently among the most popular devices of their kind. They are small, portable and produce a great sound for their size. Find out where the key differences between the current JBL Flip 4 and JBL Charge 4 models are.
JBL Flip vs. Charge: The Flip 4 scores with these advantages
The JBL Flip 4 is the smaller of the two boxes. The Bluetooth speaker can score particularly well with the following points:
- Weight and dimensions: With a weight of around 500 grams and a size of 17.5 x 7 centimeters, the small Flip 4 fits in any pocket and can be carried easily with one hand. The small dimensions are a real advantage, especially when traveling.
- Clear sound: Amazing but true: In terms of sound, many buyers rate the JBL Flip 4 better than the larger Charge 4. This is due to the good coordination of the treble, which sounds clear and balanced, especially at low volumes. In the case of bass, you have to make compromises with the smaller box.
- Price: With a current price of 85 euros on Amazon, the JBL Flip 4 is on a similar level to other music boxes from well-known audio manufacturers. The Charge 4 is not only bigger, but also more expensive. You have to spend around 150 euros on Amazon for the speaker.
JBL Charge 4: these are the advantages
The JBL Charge 4 is bigger, heavier and more expensive. Of course, this also goes hand in hand with better equipment.
- Strong bass: If you want to cover larger rooms with a Bluetooth box and the bass is not to be lost, you are clearly better served with the Charge 4. Due to the larger dimensions, the housing produces a much stronger sound that remains undistorted even at high volumes. The somewhat washed-out heights remain a minus point.
- Charging function and battery: The second main feature of the charge is the integrated charging function for mobile devices. You can connect and charge your cell phone via USB like a power bank. The built-in battery in the batch has a capacity of 7, 500 mAh, which ensures runtimes of up to 20 hours in music mode. The flip can do no more than 12 hours.
- Connections: Both speakers come with an aux connection, which you can use to connect audio sources via cable. The charge is also already equipped with the modern USB-C standard and offers a conventional USB socket as a charging port for smartphones. In addition to the auxiliary input, the small Flip 4 only has a micro USB port.
- Colors: If you like it colorful, the JBL Charge 4 is well advised. There are ten different colors for the box to choose from, with the Flip 4 there are only four.
Conclusion: At many important points, the two JBL boxes take nothing. Both devices are waterproof, work with the current Bluetooth standard 4.2 and can be coupled with each other. Whether you choose the batch or the flip mainly depends on whether you need the charging function. The Charge 4 is also more suitable for loud music in large rooms, the Flip 4 is more finely tuned.
