Set up parental controls on Chrome
In Google Chrome directly you can’t make any settings for the protection of minors. However, there is an extremely useful app that makes the settings automatically and very reliably.
Enable parental controls for Chrome
The "Web Filter Pro" extension activates youth protection for Chrome and automatically blocks objectionable websites. First add the app in Chrome. You can find out how to do this here.
- After adding "Web Filter Pro", a yellow icon appears at the top right of the search bar. Click on it and then on "Settings" to make the settings for "Web Filter Pro".
- Under "Block Policy" you can choose which type of website should be blocked. In addition to offensive or pornographic sites, peer2peer portals or social networks can also be blocked.
- To be on the safe side, you can also enter all websites in the "Black List" that are to be blocked.
- So that the kids cannot reset the settings, "Web Filter Pro" can be protected with a password. You can also deactivate the toolbar button next to the search bar.
Google Chrome version 28.0.1500.72 m was used for this practical tip. Read here how you can also block websites in Chrome.
