Classic pumpkin Hokkaido best with a bowl
The Hokkaido is one of the most popular pumpkin varieties.
- The bowl of the Hokkaido is soft enough that you can eat it without any problems. You can process the popular pumpkin unpeeled into soup or fry it

- It is important that you carefully clean the pumpkin before you prepare it and its skin. To do this, remove the dirt thoroughly with a vegetable brush. Then rinse the vegetables under running water.
- If you discover small pressure points or other damage, simply cut them off.
- By the way, the small growths or smallpox on the skin of the pumpkin are not harmful to health. These are just "blemishes" that you can safely eat. In terms of taste, they have no effect.

Other pumpkin varieties for unpeeled consumption
The Hokkaido isn't the only pumpkin you don't have to peel.
- Basically, you can also eat the butternut squash with a peel. However, this is a little harder than that of the Hokkaido and therefore takes longer to become soft. Dishes with a relatively short cooking time are therefore not suitable for unshelled butternut. In these cases, you should peel the pumpkin. Incidentally, the raw butternut squash tastes very good due to its fine butter taste.
- The same applies to the rich nutmeg pumpkin. Like the butternut, this variety is a musk pumpkin. You don't have to peel the nutmeg pumpkin when cooking for a long time. However, the bowl is too hard for quick preparation.
- You can also easily eat the small patisson with a bowl. You can even process the pumpkin in the shape of a UFO raw and unpeeled in a tasty salad. Prepared in the oven, it tastes great when you fill it with minced meat.
- If you cook the spaghetti squash, you don't have to peel the vegetables either. Cooked whole, however, you should pierce the bowl.
- The thin shell of the sweet dumpling is also edible. This type of pumpkin tastes quite good raw in salads. Even better, the sweet dumpling unfolds its slightly sweet and chestnut-like aroma, cooked or fried. For example, you can cook the pumpkin in the pan like fried potatoes.
