Kabel Deutschland or Telekom - DSL providers in comparison
If you are looking for a new internet provider, you will be overwhelmed with offers. We show you in our comparison whether Kabel Deutschland or Telekom has better offers.
Kabel Deutschland: Low tariffs, fast internet, limited availability
Kabel Deutschland belongs to the Vodafone Group and offers Internet, telephone and television via cable connection:
- At Kabel Deutschland you can choose between four contract models for an Internet connection. There are differences in price and transmission speed. All contracts have a term of 24 months.
- The cheapest model offers 10 Mbit / s. This is slower than ordinary DSL (16 Mbit / s), but costs only 9.99 euros in the first six months, then 19.99 euros. Compare the transfer rate here with your current internet speed. A landline flat rate is not included in the price, but can be booked for 5 euros per month.
- For 19.99 euros in the first 24 months and then 29.99 euros you get 25 Mbit / s and a landline flat rate.
- 50 Mbit / s and landline flat costs 19.99 euros in the first year, then the price rises to 34.99 euros.
- Super-fast internet with 6 times the DSL speed is available for 19.99 euros in the first year. Then you pay 39.99 euros for the luxury.
- Kabel Deutschland does offer cheap, fast tariffs. However, they must be connected to the cable network. You can find out whether cables are available at your address here.
- One drawback to the contracts is the slow upload speeds: you get 0.6 Mbit / s in the cheapest contract, 6 Mbit / s brings the most expensive model. For comparison: At Telekom you get between 2.4 and 40 Mbit / s in upload.
Telekom: Expensive DSL contracts, fast network and good service
The DSL contracts at Deutsche Telekom are somewhat more expensive than the cable contracts at Kabel Deutschland, but Telekom is excellent for the network and service:
- Telekom offers three different contract models with different speeds. It is either set to DSL or VDSL. With each of the contracts you will receive a telephone flat rate with HD voice included.
- For 29.95 euros in the first year and then 34.95 euros you get 16 Mbit / s internet speed.
- 50 Mbit / s cost 34.95 euros, 100 Mbit / s cost 39.95 euros.
- In addition to the download speeds mentioned, Deutsche Telekom also offers you high upload speeds: 2.4 Mbit / s, 10 or even 40 Mbit / s in the most expensive contract enable lightning-fast sharing and uploading of files.
- You can find out here which speeds are possible at home.
