In many cases you can fix a cable TV fault yourself. Here you can find out what the causes are and what you can do.
Cable TV interference: you can do that
You can fix the problem yourself with the following tips:
- First check whether all the required cables are really plugged in. In many cases, these loosen up over time. Pay special attention to the coaxial connector.
- If you are using an external receiver, you should also determine whether your TV is receiving a signal from the receiver. This way you can further narrow down the problem. If your television does not receive a signal despite the receiver being switched on, the problem is not with the cable TV network, but with the television, the receiver or the cables in between.
- Disconnect the TV and receiver from the power supply, wait a moment and then plug the devices back in. This will restart everything and many problems will often solve themselves.
- In your own four walls, the coaxial cables can be responsible for problems with reception. If the television program worked normally before the sudden complete failure, this can be excluded. Defects on coaxial cables usually announce themselves through disturbed signals, which are noticeable through poor picture and sound reproduction.
- If these tips don't help, contact your cable provider. They can tell you whether there are currently transmission failures in your region and send a technician on a case-by-case basis.
In the next practical tip, we will show you what is important when extending coaxial cables.
