If you want to retrofit wireless charging according to the Qi standard on your smartphone, you can do this in several ways. Here's how it works.
Charge your smartphone wirelessly: upgrade Qi
- If your smartphone does not support wireless charging from the start, you can retrofit the function using a so-called Qi receiver. It is a thin Qi mat with a USB or Lightning connector.
- The Qi receiver is connected to the charging socket at the bottom of the smartphone. The actual receiver is very flat and is folded behind the device. It is best to hide it there behind a cover.
- However, you must note that the cover is as thin as possible, since the covers partially block the wireless power. With a Qi receiver, you can retrofit wireless charging on almost any smartphone.
- Alternatively, you can use a cell phone case with integrated Qi technology. The Qi receiver is already in the case, so there will be no problems with charging. Of course, the case also occupies the charging socket on the smartphone.
