Coffee enema: This brings coffee for colon cleansing
A coffee enema surely sounds unusual to many people at first. The enema with the drink not only serves to cleanse the colon, but primarily to detoxify the body. We explain how this works in this health tip.
Coffee enema - detoxify with the drink and body
Coffee with constipation is no longer an insider tip. The caffeine in the drink stimulates the intestines.
- As an enema, however, coffee has a completely different effect. If the drink is placed directly in the intestine, it is absorbed by the intestinal mucosa.
- From this mucous membrane, everything reaches the portal vein via smaller veins. It is the large vein that leads to the liver.
- The substances absorbed by the intestinal mucosa reach the liver via this portal vein. The blood of the portal vein contains important substances that the intestine absorbs through its diet. However, all toxins and breakdown products that accumulate in the body also reach the liver.
- Important functions of the liver are metabolism and detoxification. In their cells, the incoming substances are either directly used or stored for later, depending on the effects on the body. Harmful substances are converted or broken down.
- Bile helps with the digestion of fatty foods. In all these complex processes, coffee as an enema directly via the intestine has a positive effect on the body in many ways.
- The portal vein circulation of the liver consists of many small vascular branches. The coffee ensures that these vessels continue to expand. This improves blood circulation and nutrients, but the toxins also get to the liver cells faster.
- The coffee enema also affects the bile ducts. You will also be expanded. This improves the bile flow. The coffee enema also stimulates bile production. Certain enzymes in coffee are responsible for this.
- With a coffee enema, the blood vessels in the intestine expand themselves. Nutrients and toxins can thus be better absorbed by the mucous membrane. Finally, the enema has an anti-inflammatory effect directly in the intestine. The theophylline and theobromine in coffee are responsible for this.
Coffee enema as part of Gerson therapy
Coffee enemas are not a new-fashioned invention. They are part of the so-called Gerson therapy.
- This form of therapy was developed by the German physician Max Gerson in the 1920s. However, Gerson therapy does not only consist of coffee enemas. It also includes a fat-free, salt-free and vegetarian diet.
- However, many foods are not allowed on the Gerson diet. Incidentally, this also expressly includes coffee and tea. In Gerson therapy, coffee is used only for enemas.
- Gerson therapy was originally developed only for the treatment of tuberculosis. However, it should also be able to treat other diseases such as migraines, diabetes and even cancer.
- The healthy effects of coffee enemas have not been scientifically proven. However, Gerson was often successful with his therapy. In some cancer clinics, Gerson therapy including coffee enemas is still carried out today.
