Make cocoa yourself - how it works
Instead of buying ready-made drinking cocoa, you can easily make your own variant of the chocolate drink yourself. That is why we have put together four fresh and individual recipes for you.
Make cocoa yourself - a vegan variant
For this recipe you need a plant milk of your choice, raw cocoa powder, vanilla extract, 50 grams of vegan chocolate and a banana. The fruit is used here as a sweetener. Alternatively, you can also use coconut blossom sugar or agave syrup.
- Measure out half a liter of vegetable milk and cut a banana into small pieces. Now put both ingredients in a blender.
- Turn on the blender at the lowest level and add 1 to 2 tablespoons of baked cocoa and a little vanilla extract.
- Now add the chopped chocolate - but leave a little rest to decorate later. Now let everything mix for a good two minutes.
- Instead of the banana, you can also put 2 or 3 pitted dates in the blender. If you want your cocoa to be a little creamier, crush a few cashew nuts or almonds and add them.
- Finally, fill the cold cocoa variant into glasses and sprinkle the remaining pieces of chocolate over the drink.
Lactose-free refreshment with a hint of cocoa
Use lactose-free cow's milk for this recipe. If you want to use lactose-free but not animal milk, you can use oat milk, for example. Otherwise you need brown or normal sugar, about 5 ice cubes and cocoa powder.
- First, crush the ice cubes with the milk in a blender. Make sure that the device does not become too hot during this step.
- Now add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and the same amount of sugar and mix everything thoroughly.
- If you want, fill the drink in a tall or long drink glass and add a scoop of lactose-free chocolate or vanilla ice cream and decorate the glass rim with a strawberry or apple slice.
Hot turmeric chocolate
Turmeric strengthens the immune system and promotes digestion. In addition to this special ingredient, you need 500 ml of whole milk, 1 to 2 tablespoons of baked cocoa, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, 50 grams of sugar or 1 teaspoon of honey and a sachet of vanilla sugar. You can use cream and chocolate sprinkles to garnish at will.
- Heat the milk together with 1 tsp turmeric, cocoa and all other ingredients in a saucepan.
- After boiling, let the milk continue to simmer on medium heat for about 5 minutes and stir constantly with a whisk. This not only makes the milk frothy, you also prevent the mixture from burning.
- Fill the hot chocolate into cups. Put a little icing on the drink and sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles.
For sweet cocoa lovers: the hot white
You need 400 ml milk, 100 ml whipped cream, 75 grams white chocolate and vanilla extract. This variant becomes fruity and delicious with strawberries. You do not have to include this addition in your version, the chocolate tastes delicious without it. The decoration is again optional here.
- At the beginning, put the milk with the whipped cream in a saucepan and gently heat the mixture until everything has warmed up but is not boiling.
- Then add the vanilla extract and the chocolate finely chopped or in pieces to the milk. Let the chocolate melt slowly in the milk mixture, stirring constantly.
- Skip this step if you don't want to add strawberries: wash the strawberries, dab them with kitchen paper and cut them into small cubes. Put the finely chopped fruit in the still warm chocolate.
- When the drinking chocolate is ready, fill it into glasses or cups and decorate it with small marshmallows and a little cocoa powder.
