Can I use Google Earth offline?

Saving maps and images offline on Google Earth is not immediately possible. However, there are two detours.
Use Google Earth maps from the cache
Of course, Google Earth works best when it is permanently connected to the internet. However, larger amounts of image material can also be stored in the cache and thus locally on the computer.
- With an active internet connection, go to the maps or locations in Google Earth that you want to use offline later.
- Look for the charge indicator in the bottom right of the window. When it is complete, Google Earth has loaded all the data in the height and with the settings with which you are currently viewing the map.
- If you now disconnect from the Internet, you can continue to view these previously accessed locations. This also normally works if Google Earth is closed in the meantime.
Save Google Earth offline using a screenshot
Particularly simple, but quite effective: take screenshots of the desired map parts. If you only want to save small map sections, a simple screenshot can be useful.
- Press the [F11] key in Google Earth to switch to full screen mode.
- Press [Print] to copy the screen contents to the buffer.
- Paste this into an image editing program like "Paint" and save the image.
- In this tip, we explain how to take screenshots on smartphones or under MacOS.
