Cinnamon blends to replace cardamom
If you have cinnamon in the house, you can easily replace cardamom in combination with other spices.
- Ginger and cinnamon: Replace a teaspoon of cardamom with a mixture of ginger and cinnamon. For this you need half a teaspoon of each of these two spices. Mix the products well and add them to the food.
- Nutmeg and cinnamon: This combination is also a good replacement for cardamom. The same mixing ratio applies here. Half a teaspoon of nutmeg and cinnamon replace one teaspoon of cardamom.
- Cloves and cinnamon: Mix half a teaspoon of cloves and cinnamon and season your dish as well as with a teaspoon of cardamom.
Allspice as an alternative to the spice
Cardamom can also be exchanged as follows:
- Seasoning with allspice instead of cardamom is very similar to the spice in terms of taste.
- The spice has a much more intense taste. For this reason, you should halve the amount. Instead of a teaspoon of cardamom, use only half a teaspoon of allspice.
