You can also cook potatoes in the microwave - a convenient alternative to the saucepan. However, this variant is more suitable for a smaller number of potatoes. If you want to cook larger quantities, the conventional way in the pot is better.
Cook unpeeled potatoes in the microwave
You can prepare the potatoes unpeeled in the microwave and then serve them as jacket potatoes. With this method, follow the steps below.
- Wash the unpeeled potatoes and place them in a microwave-safe glass bowl. Pick up a plate that is large enough to cover the bowl completely. Then cover the bowl in this way.
- Place the covered bowl and potatoes in your microwave and select 600 watts. Depending on how many potatoes you have, the cooking time will be longer or shorter. Allow around six minutes for three large or six small potatoes.
Cook the peeled potatoes in the microwave
The potatoes can also be prepared in peeled form in the microwave. To do this, proceed as follows.
- First, peel the potatoes and halve or quarter them depending on their size to speed up the cooking.
- Place the potatoes in a suitable microwave dish and close the associated lid.
- Place the microwave dishes together with the peeled potatoes in the microwave and heat them depending on the amount at 600 watts. It also takes about six minutes for around three large or six small potatoes.
