Potatoes are a versatile vegetable with numerous, healthy ingredients.
- Protein : 100 grams of potatoes contain only two percent protein. However, it is a protein that the body can absorb and utilize very well.
- Vitamins : Potatoes are rich in vitamin C. 100 grams contain 17 milligrams of it. In addition, the nightshade family brings small amounts of vitamins B1 and B6, folic acid and vitamin K with them.
- Minerals : The potato contains a fair amount of potassium, at least 385 milligrams per 100 grams. There are also significant amounts of phosphorus and magnesium.
- Carbohydrates : 100 grams of potatoes contain a little more than 14 grams of carbohydrates. Much of it is strength. This starch is only converted during cooking and only then does the potato become digestible. For this reason, you should not eat potatoes raw.
Gluten and cholesterol free food
It's not just what's inside that makes the potato so healthy.
- Some ingredients that can become a problem for some people are completely missing in the tuber.
- Potatoes are free of cholesterol. So if your cholesterol levels are too high, you can safely incorporate potatoes into your diet.
- However, the type of preparation plays an important role here. French fries or fried potatoes prepared in fat are less suitable.
- Another advantage of potatoes is that the tubers are naturally gluten free.
- If you suffer from celiac disease, i.e. a gluten intolerance, you can easily tolerate potato dishes.
