Kaspersky: Add exceptions - how it works
Kaspersky's antivirus software does a good job, but it is sometimes overzealous. If you regularly create exceptions, you prevent error messages and unintentionally blocked programs. We'll show you exactly how to do it.
How to create an exception in Kaspersky
You can save a new exception in Kaspersky Internet Security in just a few steps. This is then classified as safe when searching for viruses.
- Start Kaspersky Internet Security on your computer.
- Open the settings directly on the start page. Note that depending on the version, the corresponding button is sometimes only represented by a gear.
- In the advanced settings, open "Dangers and exceptions" and then "Adjust exception rules".
- You can use the "Add" button to create a new exception rule.
- Now select the folder or file that Kaspersky should ignore.
- Enter the type of threat in the "Object" field, for example "eicar-test-file". Use the virus glossary as a guide.
- Then set the checks for which the exception should apply. Finally, you can decide whether the rule should be activated directly or should remain inactive for the time being.
- If you click "Add", the rule is saved.
Again and again, small errors are creeping in at Kaspersky. Our virus scanner duel between Kasperksy and Avira reveals whether other virus scanners work better here.
