No sound on Mac OS - what to do?
If, despite clicking on the iTunes play button, there is no sound under MacOS, broken speakers do not have to be the cause. The problem can often be easily solved.
Solve sound problem under MacOS
- First, you should increase the volume with the F11 key. If the Mac-typical "blob" sounds, the problem is only due to iTunes. Because this is still trying to send to an AirPlay device. Simply click on the AirPlay icon in the menu bar and deactivate the transfer.
- If you can't hear a "blob" sound while increasing the volume and no AirPlay device is connected, it could also be a very simple error: You may still have headphones connected to your Mac. You can easily check this with a simple "Alt" + click on the loudspeaker symbol in the menu bar. If so, simply disconnect the headphones from your Mac.
- If you still couldn't fix the problem, resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) could help. If you are using a MacBook, you have to shut down the Mac with the AC adapter connected. Now press Shift + Control + Option and the On / Off switch at the same time and release the keys at the same time. You can then restart the Mac. For MacPro, iMac or MacMini, you only need to disconnect the power cord from the Mac for 15 seconds after shutting down. Then plug it back in, wait five seconds, and restart the Mac.
