No sound in After Effects - what to do?
If no sound is played in After Effects, this may be due to an incompatible sound track. You can find more solutions here in this practical tip.
No sound in After Effects - you can do that
Adobe After Effects helps you to animate or create films. However, if there is no sound, you should check the audio track:
- If you have inserted a video in After Effects, the sound will only be played if you click on "RAM Preview". This is right next to the "normal" play button.
- You may also have turned off the sound for this video. Therefore, make sure that you have checked the audio track.
- Note that when rendering, you must specify that the sound should also be rendered. Otherwise the video remains silent and no sound is played. To do this, check the "Audio output" box.
- You may also have chosen an unsupported format. On this page you can see which formats are compatible in Adobe After Effects.
- Also make sure your system sound is activated. To do this, double-click on the loudspeaker symbol in the task bar and drag all the controls upwards.
- To test whether After Effects imported the file correctly, press and hold the [CTRL] key and hover over the movie in the timeline. If you don't hear any sound here, the file was not imported correctly or is damaged.
- Note: Please note that these functions only work with a full version of Adobe After Effects. Some settings are therefore not available in the free trial version.
