No connection to the Fritzbox: the most common causes and solutions
If you are not connected to the Fritzbox, several reasons can be responsible. In this practical tip, you will find out what can be the reason and what you can do about it.
No connection to the Fritzbox - it could be because of that
Below we have the most common causes and solutions for you if you cannot connect to the Fritzbox:
- Wiring: First make sure that you have connected the router correctly. All connections should be seated correctly and the cables should not be defective.
- Browser: To be able to call up the user interface, you have to enter "fritz.box" in the browser. Make sure that no "//" or "//" has been set beforehand by the browser.
- LAN: If you have connected your PC to the Fritzbox via LAN, there may be a defect in the cable or in the LAN connection used. Therefore, replace the LAN cable or use another LAN connection.
- WLAN: With a WLAN connection, you should make sure that you have selected the correct Fritzbox. If you have not changed the password, use the data on the underside of the router as a password.
- Restart: In some cases, restarting the router can help. Disconnect the Fritzbox from the power supply for about 10 seconds and then try again.
- Firewall / Antivirus: The firewall or antivirus may be blocking the connection to the Fritzbox. Therefore, switch off both services as a test. If you can then establish a connection, add "fritz.box" under "Browser protection"> "Search"> "Exception" as an exception.
- Reset: If you still cannot solve the problem, often only the reset of the Fritzbox helps. After that, however, you have to set it up again.
