Quick recipe for cooking chickpeas - this saves you time in the kitchen
Usually chickpeas have to soak for at least twelve, better 24 hours.
- By boiling up you shorten the soaking time. To do this, put the chickpeas in a saucepan and cover the legumes with about ten centimeters of water.
- Now cook the chickpeas over high heat for five minutes. After you have removed the pot from the stove, cover it with a lid and let the chickpeas steep in the hot water for about an hour.
- After an hour, first pour the chickpeas through a sieve and then wash them under running water for another minute.
- Now you have to cook the legumes. To do this, put them in a clean saucepan and fill up with fresh water. The chickpeas must be well covered.
- The chickpeas cook at medium temperature, they should only simmer. After about an hour, the legumes are enough for soups or stews, so they are a little firmer.
- If you want to make hummus out of it, the chickpeas must be softer. Then you have to simmer for an hour and a half to two hours.
