With parental controls for Google Chrome, you no longer have to worry about your kids surfing the web. We'll give you the best tips for Chrome parental controls.
1. Google Chrome: Set allowed websites for supervised users
Google calls its parental controls for the Chrome browser "supervised users". This gives you, as parents, full control over your children's surfing behavior. For example, you can specify which websites are allowed:
- If you have created the supervised user, open the dashboard for supervised users.
- Here you can set under "Permissions"> "Manage" whether you only want to allow certain websites or prohibit certain websites.
2. Include subdomains in Chrome under allowed websites
With a little trick you can also include subdomains in the allowed or forbidden subdomains. This allows you, for example, to easily allow access to at home.chip.de and praxistipps.chip.de.
- Use a [*.] In front of the website to include the subdomains. For example: [*.] Chip.de to also allow websites like praxistipps.chip.de.
- If you use [*] after the domain instead of the country code, the website can be used regardless of the domain extension. So you can go to www.google. [*] To google.com as well as google.de.
3. Control of the Chrome user: Activate notifications
With the help of the notifications from Google Chrome, you always stay up to date and are automatically informed which websites have been accessed.
- To do this, go back to the dashboard.
- Select the supervised user on the left. You can then activate or deactivate the notifications in the first module at the top left.
4. SafeSearch is activated for supervised users
The "SafeSearch" function automatically filters the content from Google so that offensive content is withheld. This is particularly interesting for parents to protect the children from such content.
- For supervised users, this function is activated from the outset so that you do not have to activate it.
- If this function is not desired, it can of course be deactivated. To do this, select "Unlock SafeSearch" under Permissions.
