Set up parental controls for sub-accounts on the PS4

Set up a child sub-account on the PS4
You can set up a sub-account in just a few steps. Have a computer or other device with Internet access ready for this. The setup is completed with an email confirmation. In addition, you set up the first configuration for sub-account parental controls on your computer or smartphone or tablet.
- Log in to the PS4 with your account and press up on the directional pad. Navigate to the "Settings" item.
- Now move the cursor down until the item "Child lock" appears. In the next window press "Subaccount management" (see picture).
- Here you first enter the registration data of your main account.
- Next, select the "Create New Subaccount" option. Detailed information is now displayed to what extent parental controls are made for a sub-account. You should read this note.
- Then provide user information for the sub account. This is about information that relates to the person who will use the account. Then press "Next".
- Now an email with a link will be sent to the email address you specified. Click on the link and follow the further instructions.
- You have now set up the account - you can now use it to log in to the login screen.
Set up parental controls for the PS4 sub-account
You can adjust individual settings for the sub-account at any time on the PS4. Among other things, there is a configuration for chat and notifications as well as user-generated media.
- Start your PS4 and log in with your main account. This gives you access to sub-account settings at all times.
- Now press up on your directional pad and open the "Settings" here.
- First select "Parental Control" and then "Sub-Account Management".
- Now you can set up parental controls for the sub-account you want.
What exactly blocks parental controls?
- Here you can determine whether the user of the sub-account can access chat functions such as voice and video chat. So you can effectively restrict communication with other PS4 users.
- You can also set the spending limit for the sub-account. Without configuration, the limit is 0.00 euros. You can adjust the limit at any time.
- You can only limit the receipt of messages through the sub-account. You should log in with the sub-account and make the following settings.
- Media created by other users can also be hidden. Otherwise these would be shown under "Live from Playstation" or "News". This includes, for example, streams from other PS4 users.
- Certain games and videos from the Playstation Store are subject to an age restriction. Regardless of this, your child can purchase the games with their credit, but cannot start until they have reached the required age.
