Replacing the Kindle battery: Instructions for changing the battery
If the battery of your Kindle only lasts a few hours, you can replace the battery yourself. This guide shows you how to change for Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Fire. A new battery costs around 20 euros and the exchange is easier than you think.
Kindle Paperwhite: replace the battery
- Pick up a thin plastic tool and gently press it into the groove on the outer edge of the front.
- Start at the top of the reader and work your way around the edge. Then the cover can be easily removed.
- You will find an adhesive strip at the top under the cover. Carefully pull it off to reveal the screw.
- Remove all visible screws, you can easily separate the plastic back from the centerpiece of the Kindles.
- Now you have to loosen all three screws on the battery and remove the old battery. Then you can install the new battery and assemble the eBook reader again. To do this, follow these instructions in reverse order.
Kindle: replace battery from eBook reader
- Turn the Kindle over and you will see a cover on the back. Using a thin plastic tool, slide the grooves in the cover.
- Once you have opened the device, you will see a large metal cover in the middle. Remove them by loosening the screws.
- The battery is connected to the reader via a ribbon cable. Fold up the lock on the end of the cable and release the connection.
- Run the plastic tool under the glued battery and replace it. You can then reassemble the device.
Kindle Fire: replace the battery yourself
- The Kindle Fire consists of a front and a back. There is a thin groove between the two halves.
- Take the plastic tool at hand and carefully drive it around the entire reader.
- The battery is only connected to the tablet via a plug. Carefully loosen the connection.
- Take the plastic tool again and drive it under the battery from all sides so that the adhesive comes off.
- You can then insert the new battery. This should also be glued. If necessary, this can be done with a small piece of double-sided adhesive tape.
