Listen to text on Kindle with text-to-speech
You can have most content read to you directly from your Kindle using text-to-speech.
- You can activate this function in the product information on the product page of your eBook, if it is available for the title.
- As you read, tap the center of the Kindle screen, then tap the three-dot icon.
- Go to "Additional Settings" and set Text-to-Speech to "On".
- To start playback, tap the screen again and then tap the arrow icon.
- You can increase or decrease the reading speed by tapping the icon that looks like a speedometer.
- If you read a book in a foreign language, the appropriate text-to-speech voice for that language can be downloaded.
- To do this, tap the download request. You will find this at the bottom of the progress bar.
- Note: The text-to-speech feature is only available on Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HDX, Amazon Echo, Amazon Tap and Amazon Echo Dot. An audio adapter is available for the 7th generation Kindle Paperwhite. However, you are currently not getting this in Germany.
