If your Kindle suddenly freezes, you can usually get it up and running again with a simple trick:
- Disconnect your Amazon Kindle from the computer.
- Press the on / off button until the indicator lamp lights up green for about two seconds.
- Then press and hold this button for about five seconds. Wait for the screen to appear and then release the switch.
- Now press the power button again to turn Kindle on.

If your reader still does not respond, you can try to reset the device:
- To do this, press and hold the on / off button for approx. 20 seconds.
- Tip: If that doesn't help either, make sure the Kindle is sufficiently charged before restarting it.
Amazon Kindle hangs up - perform software update
A software update can also fix the error. So that the device does not hang during the installation, you should import the update manually:
- Download the latest company goods onto your PC.
- Connect Kindle to your PC and turn it on.
- Then drag and drop the downloaded firmware into the Kindle directory.
- When the transfer is complete, disconnect the Kindle from the PC.
- Then press the [Menu] button on your Kindle and open the "Settings" from there.
- Here you must then press the [Menu] key again to select the "Software update" item.
- Click "OK" to carry out the update.
