Restart Kindle - Here's how
If your Kindle stops responding or you experience other problems, you should restart the eReader. In this practical tip, we reveal exactly how this works.
Hard and soft reset: restart Amazon Kindle
For a normal restart, hold down the power button on your Amazon Kindle for around 6 seconds until the screen turns white. Then press the power button again and your Kindle will restart. However, this only helps with very few problems. A complete restart is therefore better:
- To do this, press and hold the Kindles' power button for at least 40 seconds. After about 6 to 8 seconds the display switches off or flickers - still keep the button pressed until the end of the 40 seconds.
- After you release the power button, the start screen appears after a few seconds. Your Kindle will then restart.
- If that doesn't work, fully charge your Kindle first. Then repeat the above steps.
- Please note: Unlike the reset, the two restart techniques do not delete any data. If your problem is still not resolved, you should try a complete reset.
