Use Kindle without Amazon - so it'll work
If you do not want to share your Kindle with Amazon, you can use the eBook reader without registering and without a connection to Amazon. We show you how to completely shield your personal data from Amazon.
Kindle: How to use the reader without Amazon
- If you have already logged in with your Amazon account, tap the menu button on the top right of the homepage. In the settings, you can unsubscribe under the "Registration" category.
- If you haven't bought Kindle yet, you can keep Amazon almost entirely away from your eBook reader. Activate the "This is a gift" option before adding the Kindle to your shopping cart. So the device is not linked to your Amazon account (see picture).
- Tip: If you do not want to send any data to Amazon, you can also refrain from the WiFi connection. We'll show you how this works in a separate practical tip.
Transfer books to Kindle without Amazon
