Kindle Paperwhite has stopped charging - what to do?
If your Kindle Paperwhite stops charging, the power supply is mostly to blame. So there is often no defect on the device, but on the periphery.
Kindle Paperwhite no longer loads - it could be because of that
- If you're trying to charge your Kindle on a USB port, try another port first. On very old PCs (before 2003, for example) with USB 1.0 or 1.1, you cannot load the eBook reader via USB.
- You can of course also charge the Kindle with an external USB adapter. Compared to a PC, your Kindle will not be fully charged faster - even if you use a device with 1 A output current, for example. The Kindle Paperwhite draws a maximum charging current of approx. 500 mA, which corresponds approximately to the power supply through USB 2.0.
- Regardless of whether PC or charger, in both cases you can use the charging LED to check whether the device is actually charging. During the process it lights up orange (see screenshot) and green when the battery is full.
- If the lamp does not light up at all, you can replace the power adapter or the USB cable.
- If your device is still running, you should restart it. That solves the problem in many cases.
- If that doesn't help either, contact Amazon Customer Support. As part of the manufacturer's warranty, you will then receive a new device.
