Kindle does not respond - it may be because of it

A software error can cause the Amazon Kindle to stop responding. The problem can usually be solved with little effort. We'll show you what you can do.
Kindle does not respond: battery is low
The Amazon Kindle does not turn off when the battery is weak but not fully discharged. However, it can happen that the screen freezes when the battery is low.
- Charge your Kindle for at least ten minutes and then try to restart it.
- To do this, press and hold the on / off button for five seconds (pull to the side) until the screen goes out.
- Now switch the device on again.
Kindle does not respond: software error
If charging the battery fails, there is a software error. In that case, you need to reset Kindle:
- Press and hold the on / off button for 20 to 30 seconds or slide it to the side and hold the button down.
- When you release the button, the restart screen should appear.
- Wait a few minutes for the device to restart.
- If the process takes significantly longer, your Kindle hangs again. Charge the device for 30 to 40 minutes and then try to reset it again.
Hard reset on Amazon Kindle 1st and 2nd generation
With Amazon Kindles first and second generation, you can remove the back cover and reset the battery. In this way, the device is reset to the factory settings. However, please note that this will invalidate the guarantee. You should only carry out this step if the warranty on your device has already expired. Otherwise read on in the last paragraph.
- Loosen the Kindle's back cover with a flat object that you use as a lever. For example, a nail file or a blunt knife is suitable.
- You can now see the battery: a large, white rectangle. There is a small hole underneath, slightly shifted to the right. There is a reset button in it.
- Insert a thin object, such as a paper clip, and press for about five seconds.
- Now perform a reset again, as described in the previous paragraph.
- If the reset has now worked, close the cover again by pressing it firmly. Otherwise try again - the reset button may not have been pressed correctly.
Hard reset for newer Kindles
You can also perform a hard reset on newer Amazon Kindle devices. To do this, however, you must remove the battery completely and insert it again. Note: If you open your Kindle, the warranty will expire. Again, the best thing to do in the next paragraph is to read how you can still use your warranty.
