You will need the Kindle serial number if you want to send your Kindle in and have it repaired. In 2018, Amazon launched the new Kindle Paperwhite. How to find out the serial number of this and older models can be found here.
Kindle serial number: 5th generation and older
For Kindles of the 1st to 5th generation, the serial number consists of 16 characters. You won't find the number on the case, instead you have to go through the settings:
- First, press the Home button on your Amazon Kindle.
- Then press the menu button. The options menu opens on the right edge of the screen.
- Now select the "Settings" entry and scroll to the next page. To do this, use the Next key, which you also use to turn pages in books.
- Your individual serial number now appears under the heading "Device info". Your child's serial number always begins with "B00E".
Find the serial number of a newer Kindle model
To read the serial number on Amazon Kindle, take a look at the settings:
- Open the settings. You can do this by tapping the gear icon in the toolbar. Alternatively, you can tap the icon with the three dots on the button and select "Settings".
- Now select "Device Options".
- Open the "Device info" menu. You can find your child's serial number here.
