Kindle lost - what to do?
If you've lost your Kindle, act quickly. In this practical tip, we explain what you have to do and pay attention to.
Kindle lost or stolen - you can do that
- First, you should log out of your Kindle in your Amazon account. Otherwise, a dishonest finder or thief could buy books or take out subscriptions. You can find the option in your Amazon account under My Kindle> "Manage my devices". There is a "Logout" button to the right of your Kindle.
- In any case, you should also cancel all current subscriptions. Any expenses you have not yet received will be refunded to you. It also works on My Kindle. Now you just have to click on "Subscription settings" on the left.
- If you are sure that your device has been stolen, the next thing you should do is go to the police and file a complaint against a stranger - especially if your Kindle was insured.
- A little hope remains: If an honest finder reports to Amazon, the device could come back to you. The online shop will then ensure that the Kindle is returned to you. You can also help yourself in advance to ensure that a finder knows who to contact by entering your name and address in the Kindle settings.
To prevent a thief from going shopping, you can also password-protect your Kindle.
