Apply Kinesio tape on the back: background for instructions
Kinesio Tape is a treatment method of kinesiological movement theory that originated in Japan in the 1970s. Even if this is scientifically controversial, you can see more and more professional athletes with tapes on their bodies.
- This form of therapy only came to Europe in the late 1990s. Nowadays, it is widespread in almost every corner of the world and athletes of all types use this Far Eastern treatment method.
- Kinesio Tape is nothing more than a cotton tape with acrylic adhesive. The special thing about it are the Convolutions, the wave-like recesses on the tape.
- If you apply the tape to the stretched skin, free spaces are created in the tape when you relax. In the resulting waves, the upper and lower layers of the skin can recover and the vessels underneath begin to heal.
- In addition, this relaxing pull on the skin helps the pain sensors. These are less stressed, you feel less pain and can move the glued area more freely.
How to properly tap your back and shoulders with Kinesio Tape
Basically, you can tap any place on the body. Wherever injuries and pain can occur. With these simple tricks, you can counteract back pain, relieve tension from overworked skin and promote the healing process.
- In advance you should make sure that the area on the body is free of fat and soap and ideally free of hair. This way the tape holds better and can then be removed more painlessly. You also need good scissors.
- Sit upright but relaxed. Lean your head to one side.
- Then put the tape on your shoulders. About from the neck to the shoulder. You will need two strips of this, as well as two more, slightly shorter ones.
- Cut the corners round. This will prevent it from coming loose at these points. Tear the paper about two inches from one end. So you now have a free adhesive surface on the tape and can attach it to your shoulder without tension.
- Now remove the short piece of the backing paper and rub the tape firmly. With your head bent to the opposite side, stick the rest of the tape loosely onto the taut muscle.
- Now do the same on the other side.
- The two shorter strips attach you loosely at the lower end. Head bent forward, now stick the strip firmly upwards.
Taping the lower back: Apply Kinesio tape to the lower back
Pain in the lower back occurs both with sports injuries and with a poor sitting position. For this adhesive technique, it is advisable to be two. How to promote the healing process:
- You need three pieces of tape, each 15, 20 and 25 centimeters long. Round off the ends here too. Sit upright and relaxed when attaching.
- First take the 15 centimeter tape and tear the backing paper in the middle. With full tension, glue it in the middle of the lower back, remove the remaining paper and apply the tape.
- Now apply the 20 centimeter tape in the same way, only a few centimeters above the first tape. So the tapes should overlap a little.
- Now stick the 25 centimeter tape a few centimeters above the second tape. The adhesive strips should also overlap here.
