Gluing instead of drilling: the best tips and tricks
Just grab the glue instead of the drill. But is gluing instead of drilling really an alternative? We have put together the advantages and disadvantages of the different products for you.
Adapter systems
You want to avoid drill holes, especially in tiles. With adapter systems, you can securely attach towel racks etc. without drilling.
- The one-component adhesive used in the system adheres securely to tiles, stone, glass and steel.
- Depending on the adapter size, the adhesive can carry 4 to 20 kilos.
- You can easily remove the adapter from smooth surfaces.
- You will also need silicone remover on rough surfaces.
adhesive strips
Adhesive strips are well suited for attaching lighter items.
- Depending on the version, they hold up to two kilos of weight per strip.
- You can purchase waterproof strips for use in the bathroom.
- You can remove the adhesive strips from smooth surfaces such as tiles or glass without leaving any residue.
Mounting Tape
For higher loads, it is best to use mounting tape.
- You can use it to attach mirrors, key cabinets or clothes hooks.
- There is special adhesive tape for mounting outdoors. This is weatherproof and holds even on rough surfaces. You can even stick your mailbox securely.
- Before using assembly tape, however, you should know that it cannot be removed without residue.
- Another disadvantage is that you cannot correct anything once you have pressed on the tape.
- It is best to work with a helper here so that the mailbox does not hang on the wall later.
Installation glue
Mounting glue has the advantage that you have some time for corrections before the glue is hard.
- The adhesive has the highest adhesive strength and you can get it for a variety of surfaces in the hardware store.
- Even a removable version is offered.
