Retrofitting air conditioning in the car - costs and all information
As soon as summer arrives, many drivers sweat in their daily commuter traffic. In this article you can read how you can retrofit an air conditioning system and what costs you incur.
You have to expect these costs for retrofitting an air conditioning system in the car
Basically, every car, whether oldtimer or new car, can be retrofitted with air conditioning. However, the prices for this are very different.
- Installing an air conditioning system in a car is very complex and time-consuming. In any case, you should have this work done in a workshop. Special parts of the cooling mechanism - evaporator, compressor and condenser - must be properly checked beforehand.
- Depending on the model, the costs for installation are between 2, 000 and 4, 000 euros including material, assembly and wages.
- Regular maintenance is then included. In addition to changing the coolant and filters, this also includes checking the hoses and seals. Workshops require 79 euros for this service including coolant. A simple air conditioning system check (visual inspection and temperature measurement) is even free of charge for you. If you only have to change the dust and pollen filter, it costs 29 euros.
